Last updated: May 23, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using SummaryBot (the “Service”), operated by SummaryBot (“we,” “us,” or “our”), including the Discord bot, the web dashboard at summarybot.app, and any associated APIs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SummaryBot. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

SummaryBot is an AI-powered Discord bot that provides channel summarization, task management, and third-party integrations. The Service includes, but is not limited to:

  • Channel Summarization: Generating AI-powered summaries of Discord text channel conversations using Google Gemini.
  • Q&A and Search: Answering questions grounded in channel message history, with cross-channel search capabilities.
  • Task Management: Extracting action items from discussions, with built-in kanban boards for tracking tasks.
  • Scheduled Summaries: Automated recurring summaries on hourly, daily, or weekly schedules.
  • Smart Alerts: Keyword-based DM notifications when matching messages appear in your server.
  • Email Digests: Daily email summaries delivered to your inbox via SendGrid.
  • Third-Party Integrations: Connecting to external services such as Trello and Notion for task synchronization.
  • Web Dashboard: A browser-based interface for managing settings, viewing summary history, analytics, and configuring integrations.
  • Export: Downloading summaries in PDF or JSON format.
  • Webhook Delivery: Sending summary content to configured webhook endpoints.
  • Multi-Language Support: Summaries available in 100+ languages.

3. Eligibility and User Accounts

To use SummaryBot, you must have a valid Discord account and comply with Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Certain features of the Service, including bot configuration and integration management, require that you hold Administrator or Manage Server permissions within the Discord server where the bot is installed.

By adding the bot to a Discord server, you represent that you have the authority to do so and that you accept these Terms on behalf of that server's community.

4. User Responsibilities

As a user of the Service, you agree to:

  • Use the Service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that you have appropriate permissions (Administrator or Manage Server) before configuring the bot in a Discord server.
  • Not attempt to abuse, exploit, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
  • Not use the Service to process content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
  • Inform your server members that SummaryBot is active and may process messages in configured channels.
  • Maintain the security of any credentials, API tokens, or webhook URLs associated with your use of the Service.

5. Data Handling

To provide the Service, SummaryBot processes Discord messages from channels where summarization is enabled. This includes reading message content, author information, and timestamps to generate summaries via Google Gemini. We store generated summary content and associated token usage metrics for display in the web dashboard and for historical reference. Raw message content is not permanently stored.

When you connect third-party services such as Trello or Notion, we store encrypted OAuth tokens (using AES-256-GCM encryption) to maintain those integrations on your behalf. If you subscribe to email digests, we store your email address for delivery purposes. For complete details on what data we collect, how we use it, and how long we retain it, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Integrations

SummaryBot offers integrations with third-party services, including but not limited to Trello and Notion. When you authorize a third-party integration:

  • You authorize SummaryBot to access the relevant third-party service on your behalf using OAuth or similar authorization mechanisms.
  • We store encrypted access tokens (using AES-256-GCM encryption) to maintain your connection to those services.
  • You may revoke access to any third-party integration at any time through the SummaryBot dashboard or through the third-party service directly.
  • We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of third-party services. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Monitor or surveil Discord server members without their knowledge or consent.
  • Collect, store, or process personal information of Discord users beyond what is necessary for the Service's intended functionality.
  • Violate Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or Developer Terms of Service.
  • Generate summaries of content that is illegal, harassing, threatening, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Overload, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service without our prior written consent.
  • Use automated means (bots, scripts, crawlers) to access the Service in a manner that exceeds reasonable usage or circumvents rate limits.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user or server that violates this Acceptable Use policy.

8. Subscription and Billing

SummaryBot offers a free trial and paid subscription tiers (Starter, Pro, and Power). Subscriptions are per Discord server and are billed on a recurring monthly basis through Stripe. The free trial provides a one-time, non-resetting token budget. Paid tiers provide monthly token budgets that reset each billing cycle.

By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to the following:

  • You authorize us to charge your designated payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
  • Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as otherwise stated in these Terms.
  • We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through the dashboard or Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access to paid features until then.
  • If your subscription expires or is canceled, any active scheduled summaries will be automatically disabled and re-enabled if you resubscribe.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, features, and documentation, is owned by SummaryBot and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

You retain ownership of any content you provide to the Service, including Discord messages and configuration data. By using the Service, you grant SummaryBot a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SummaryBot and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the amount you have paid to us for the Service during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SummaryBot and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) any content you provide to the Service.

12. Modification of Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where practicable, notify you through the Service (for example, via a Discord message from the bot or a notice in the dashboard).

Your continued use of the Service after any modifications to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service and remove the bot from your Discord server.

13. Termination

By You: You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by removing the SummaryBot bot from your Discord server and, if applicable, canceling your paid subscription. You may also request deletion of your data by using the /privacy purge command or by contacting us at [email protected].

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms, the Acceptable Use policy, or applicable law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.

Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnification, and limitations of liability.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SummaryBot regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
